Our 'Masters' Program : Rowing for Adults

NCC offers recreational and competitive coaching opportunities for all members of our community, from novice to experienced rowers.

North Cascades Crew was founded in August 2008 by a group of people passionate about providing a member directed rowing organization in Snohomish County. As a young club, we place a special emphasis on adding new members. Our coaches focus on teaching the fundamentals of rowing and making your first rowing experience positive. We are a fun, friendly group who enjoys the wonderful sport of rowing. Come join us and experience the beauty and fun of rowing on Lake Stevens!

Adult Learn to Row

Our Learn to Row classes are geared towards adults who are brand new to rowing. Each session includes 10 classes during a 5 week period. The session fee is $100. Current session offerings for the fall are:

Session 1: Mon/Wed 5:45-7:15am beginning October 26
Session 2: Mon/Wed 9-10:30am beginning October 26
Session 3: Mon/Wed 6:30-8pm beginning October 26
Session 4: Sat/Sun 11am-12:30pm beginning October 31 (no class Nov. 7-8)

Check our website for continued class offerings throughout the year.

For those new to rowing, after completing a Learn to Row session, you may choose to join NCC as a member! The natural progression would be to move into the Recreational Group to continue working on your skills and fitness.

Recreational Group

This group is geared towards individuals who are looking to develop their skills and technique and get a great workout in a relaxed environment. Members of the Recreational Group are invited to attend two coached sessions a week as well as an unlimited number of Open Row Sessions.

Competitive Group

Coaching and practices for the Competitive Group are more rigorous workouts with emphasis on fitness, technique and race preparation. It is not required to participate in regattas to be in the Competitive Group. Rowers interested in participating in the Competitive Rowing Program will undergo a skill assessment conducted by our Head Coach, Fleming Brainerd. Members of the Competitive Group are invited to attend two coached sessions a week as well as an unlimited number of Open Row Sessions.

The NCC Masters Program offers flexibility for members to move from Recreational to Competitive Groups as best suits their needs.

NCC Masters Open Row Sessions

Open Row sessions are a great time to get on the water with fellow rowers and enjoy the physical, mental and social benefits of the NCC Masters Program! They are un-coached rowing sessions for NCC Masters. A safety launch is on the water during these sessions. Please see the NCC club calendar for the most current listing of Open Row sessions.

Additional member benefits include our NCC Educational Series. These informal gatherings are held quarterly and are a great way to get to know other members of our club: Junior rowers and their parents, adult rowers and family and friends.

Membership Dues:

Annual dues are $250 paid by January 1. Annual dues will be prorated for members joining after January.

Membership Fee:

Monthly dues are $30/month. This is a year round monthly commitment and due the first of every month. Included in this fee are two coaching sessions per week.

Please Note:

Regatta fees are additional. Payment is required one week before regatta date for registration to race. Regatta fees vary depending on the organizer and number of entries. There will be additional charges for mileage for trailer towing, ferry charges, and regatta support. These will be on a cost basis.
