ABOUT NCC

WHEN DID NCC COME INTO EXISTENCE?

August 2008

WHAT WERE THE REASONS BEHIND STARTING ANOTHER ROWING CLUB IN LAKE STEVENS?

Many of us are former members of LSRC and continue to be passionate about rowing. Our desire is to introduce and share the many benefits of the sport in a safe and supportive environment. We are very excited to bring our vision of North Cascades Crew to all residents of Snohomish County.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Our Junior Program is open boys and girls ages 14 – 21. The kids take on leadership roles and are part of the decision making process. They work as a team and take on responsibilities from planning the season regatta schedule to fundraising. Adult mentors provide guidance through this process but it's the youth who are fully engaged in determining the direction of their rowing program. In addition, we also offer a Masters Program for adults 21 and up. North Cascades Crew is open to all levels of experience and pursuits; beginners to advanced as well as recreational and competitive.

WHAT IS THE MISSION BEHIND THE NEW ROWING CLUB?

To empower our members, both youth and adults, to be leaders and work as a team on and off the water and create the rowing program they desire. To offer competitive and recreational rowing opportunities and provide an athletic outlet that encourages fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a sense of community.

On a side note we wanted to share that the Northwest rowing community has been incredibly supportive of North Cascades Crew/Venture Crew by helping us gather all the equipment needed to begin this exciting program. We are very fortunate to have such a great team of dedicated individuals who enjoy working together, as well as the tremendous support of our Coach, Fleming Brainerd, who is devoted to the success of the program.
